Frozen Synapse Strategically Replaces League of Legends

I've been a pretty avid League of Legends player for the past year, but it's a love-hate relationship and right now I'm hating it. I wanted to find a competitive multiplayer game where I was making more of an impact on whether I won or lost.

In League of Legends you are part of a team of five players. If the other four players on your team are drunk, tired, unskilled, or a combination of these then you have little chance of winning. Whoever said, "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game," was a loser. I am a very competitive person. Just ask my wife about the last time we played Boggle together and she won...5 years ago.

About one month ago, a small, independent video game developer from the U.K. known as Mode7 released a turn-based, tactical, close quarters shooter by the name of Frozen Synapse. I found the title when I was looking at the PC games on metacritic.com with good critic and user reviews. This game is fantastic! Picture a game of chess with guns, walls, and cover, where you make your moves simultaneously and your pieces can react intelligently depending on their environment and their initial orders. Well, that may be a little hard to picture so check out the video below. I'm having a great time with it and I haven't won a game, yet. Now that's saying something. So long League of Legends, perhaps we will meet again in another month.
